Definition of: Phosphating
Phosphating is a method of treating metal parts to provide durable and corrosion resistance. Phosphating is also referred to as conversion coating. The dilute solution chemically reacts with the metals surface to form a layer of insoluble, crystalline phosphates. The phosphating procedure includes: cleaning the surface, rinsing, surface activation, phosphating, rinsing, neutralizing rinse (optional), drying and an application of supplemental coatings, such as lubricants, sealers and oils.
